Vice President Sales | Vancouver

Our client is Canadian cannabis company servicing both medicinal and recreational markets across the country and globally. As an early entrant to the marketplace they have crossed major milestones and enjoyed great success in addition to being well poised to capitalize on the rapidly evolving landscape.

As the result of continued and exponential growth they are looking to add a Vice President Sales to the team. The right person for this role gets a charge from being on the ground and creating from scratch and is thrilled by the prospect of building, growing and guiding a strategy and a team in a highly dynamic and exciting sector.

As a valued member of the executive, the key responsibilities of the Vice President Sales will include:

  • Creating and executing the organization’s sales strategy for local, national and global markets in support of organizational goals
  • Creating and developing a sales team and network regionally, nationally and globally
  • Generating deal opportunities in both medicinal and recreational markets
  • Managing and developing the Customer Service Team
  • Working with VP Product and VP Science on new products and new markets
  • Working with the Senior Marketing team on sales campaigns, promotions, increasing brand awareness and market research

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

  • Working with the executive team on company sales strategy in support of the goals and objectives of the organization
  • Creating and delivering targeted sales strategies for all sales channels of the business
  • Creating and managing a sales team and sales network from the regional to the global level that meets and exceeds quota
  • Managing all facets of sales related operations including:
  • Account planning, forecasting, revenue, budget and expenses
  • CRM management and sales reporting
  • Creating comp plans and policies
  • Creating best practices, metrics and KPIs
  • Coaching, training, hiring and performance management
  • Managing, coaching and growing the existing CSR team as well as maintaining best practices and ensuring adherence to strict government guidelines and policies around customer service
  • Working with marketing to drive brand awareness and lead generation
  • Working with the product team on the development of new products
  • Ownership of Key Major Accounts as well as helping to generate major deals and new business opportunities
  • Maintaining intimate familiarly with the ever changing landscape of cannabis policy, regulation and legislation
  • Keeping up to date with the latest national and global cannabis trends
  • Travel as necessary

WHAT YOU NEED TO HAVE

  • 10+ years senior sales and leadership experience as well as sales operations ideally in a regulated market
  • A track record in rapidly growing and scaling sales teams on the ground and through online channels
  • Experience managing and coaching CSRs
  • Experience creating, planning and implementing sales strategy in support of organizational goals
  • Experience working with other members of the executive teams as well as cross-departmentally in support of product development and marketing
  • Understanding or the ability to quickly understand the cannabis landscape including legislation and policy
  • A highly entrepreneurial spirit and ‘can-do’ attitude
  • The ability to understand and analyze key market trends and create sales strategy accordingly
  • The ability to pivot in an ever evolving sector; comfortable with change and uncertainly
  • Exceptional organizational ability, critical thinking skills, decisiveness
  • Excellent written and verbal skills
  • A positive and engaging self-starter with a solutions-oriented attitude
  • Strong business acumen, sound judgment and a good sense of humour
  • Undergraduate degree or higher is preferred
